Sioux Falls, MN — An industrial accident at a north Sioux Falls post office left a man dead Tuesday morning, November 1, 2011. The fatal workplace accident occurred at the post office located at 4802 N. Fourth Avenue around 8 a.m., reported the Argus Leader.
According to officials, a 58-year-old man was operating an electric lift when he somehow became pinned between the lift and an object that is attached to the ceiling.
Investigators believe the man may have been looking down, as the lift was moving upwards, causing his head to become caught on some sort of pipe.
The victim, who remains unidentified, was an employee of an electric company who was working at the post office.
The Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Rural Metro Ambulance responded to the scene where they pronounced the man dead.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is expected to arrive at the scene to conduct a full investigation into the death.
