Fort Worth, TX — A freestyle motocross rider was killed Sunday, November 6, 2011, in a crash during practice for the AAA Texas 500. The fatal motocross accident occurred at the Texas Motor Speedway at the Boost Mobile display, in the midway area in front of the TMS Gates, reported the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
FMX rider Jim McNeil, 32, died from injuries he sustained when he crashed during practice for an exhibition before the NASCAR event at the Texas Motor Speedway.
The Huffington Post reported that McNeil was rushed to an area hospital where his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The details surrounding the crash and what exactly led to the fatal accident have yet to be released.
FreestyleMX.com released a statement regarding McNeil’s death on their Facebook page, which read: “Today we mourn the loss of Jim McNeil and remember the happiness he brought us all. You will never be forgotten because you were AND still are the Real Deal. We love you buddy.”
Investigations into the fatal motocross accident are underway.
