Flint, MI — A mother is angry after her son was left on a school bus at a Mass Transportation Authority bus yard, and was never alerted of the incident until her son got home from school and told her about the ordeal, reported WNEM.
Louis, Johnson, 8, was riding the MTA bus to school when he fell asleep on the way. When he woke up, he was at the bus yard. The bus driver apparently did not check the seats of the bus, before getting off and leaving the bus at the yard.
Johnson reportedly got off the bus and wandered around the bus garage for about an hour, until he located an MTA employee. That MTA worker then drove Johnson to his school, Burton Glenn Charter Academy, WNEM reported.
Neither the school nor MTA alerted Louis’ mother, who found out about what happened when he got home from school that day.
The MTA general manager Ed Benning told TV5 that drivers are required to check for passengers each time before they leave the bus unattended.
The incident is under investigation and action will be taken as the facts are revealed.
