Wenatchee, WA — Police are investigating a death at Wenatchee High School, after a 14-year-old student was pulled from the school’s pool on Thursday, November 17, 2011. The student was found unresponsive at 10:53 a.m., reported Q13Fox.
Officials reported that Antonia Reyes was in a swimming class between 9:13 a.m. and 10:09 a.m., before he was discovered when students from the next swimming class arrived at the pool
CPR was performed on Reyes until he was transported to Central Washington Hospital for treatment. Reyes could not be revived and he was pronounced dead.
Police are interviewing classmates and teachers about the drowning. At this time they believe the drowning likely took place in class. It appears that neither his teacher nor classmates realized this had occurred.
Foul play is not suspected at this time.
The Chelan County Coroner is determining the exact cause of the death.
Investigations are underway.
