West Palm Beach, FL — A man was crushed to death by a commercial oven outside an out-of-business supermarket on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. The fatal accident occurred outside the closed La Reina supermarket in the Palm Springs Plaza, located at 3403 S. Congress Avenue, at around noon, reported the Sun Sentinel.

The victim was reportedly part of a three-person crew who was attempting to load the 3,000-pound tortilla oven onto a truck, when it fell off a manual forklift.

The oven was reportedly one of the items auctioned off at the Supermarket. The person who purchased the oven hired the men to have it delivered.

At around 2 p.m. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue were able to lift the oven off of the man with the help of a high-pressure air bag.

His body has since been taken to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s office.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.

Police do not suspect any foul play in the death, and are considering it an accident.
