Two Injured in 35-Foot Fall at Titonka Grain Elevator Construction Site

Titonka, IA — An accident at a grain elevator construction site injured two people Monday afternoon, December 12, 2011. The accident occurred around 5 p.m. at the Gold Eagle Cooperative site in Titonka, reported the Globe Gazette.

The Kossuth County Sherriff’s Department revealed that a man and woman fell approximately 35 feet—which is about three stories—from a ladder or scaffolding system that they were standing on.

The identities of the injured victims are unknown at this time.

Responding emergency crews airlifted the woman by helicopter to an undisclosed medical facility, while the man was taken by ambulance to Kossuth County Regional Health Center in Algona. He was then later airlifted to an undisclosed medical facility.

The Titonka Fire and Ambulance and the Algona Ambulance Service were among those who responded to the scene.

A Gold Eagle spokesperson stated that the victims were not employees.

Investigations into the accident are underway.
