Man Thrown from UPS Truck, Seriously Injured in Federal Way

Federal Way, WA — A UPS truck went off an embankment and seriously injured a UPS worker Wednesday night, December 14, 2011, after the truck slammed into a tree. The truck accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 36600 block of 1st Avenue South, reports Komo News.

Police revealed that the truck went off the roadway and ejected a passenger. The ejected man became pinned between the truck and a tree for over a half hour, before rescue crews were able to remove him.

Responding emergency crews transported the driver and passenger to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The driver reportedly escaped the crash with only minor injuries, while the passenger sustained life-threatening injuries.

The identities of the UPS workers are being withheld at this time.

Federal Way’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the accident.

Police do not believe the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.

Investigations are underway.
