Ann Arbor, MI — A construction worker was seriously injured in a fall from a suspended platform at Lincoln High School Tuesday morning, January 31, 2012. The construction accident occurred around 11 a.m. at 7425 Willis Road in Augusta Township, reported AnnArbor.com.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office reported that the victim was working on a “sky lift” truck, which is also known as a “cherry picker” truck, when a beam fell and caused the truck to sway. The worker fell 40 to 50 feet from the platform onto the ground below.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the man was conscious and breathing. He was airlifted via Survival Flight to an area hospital in serious condition.
No students or staff was injured in the accident.
Investigations into the construction accident are underway. It is unknown if the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be launching an investigation.
