Des Moines, IA — A hit and run involving a school bus injured four students and one adult Tuesday, February 14, 2012. The school bus accident occurred at Hubbell and Broadway avenues around 7 a.m., reported the Des Moines Register.

Des Moines Police reported that a special needs school bus was stopped when a red vehicle rear-ended the bus and continued driving without stopping. A Ford Ranger pickup truck then slid into the rear end of the school bus, due to the slick pavement. The driver of the Ford remained at the scene.

The driver of the red vehicle has yet to be located.

Responding emergency crews rushed four students and a bus aide to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. None of the injuries reportedly appeared to be serious.

The identities of the injured are being withheld at this time.

Police reported that the roads were icy after an overnight freezing.

Investigations into the school bus accident are underway.
