Wrong-Way Crash on FDR Drive Kills 2, Injures 2

New York, NY — A wrong-way crash on FDR Drive killed two people and injured two others on Sunday, February 12, 2012. The deadly crash occurred just before 3 a.m. on the FDR South at the Houston Street exit, reported WPIX.com.

According to reports, a 1996 Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes where it crashed into a 2002 Dodge Caravan. A 2002 Mazda then rear-ended the Caravan.

The 26-year-old male driver of the Nissan and the driver of the Caravan, a 53-year-old man, were killed in the wreck.

The 22-year-old driver of the Mazda and her 31-year-old male passenger were taken to the nearby Bellevue Hospital Center for treatment of injuries. They are reportedly in stable condition.

The identities of those involved in the crash are being withheld at this time.

It is unknown what cause the Nissan to drive the wrong-way on the FDR.

Investigations are underway.
