A crane cable snapped and dropped a load of steel from 40 stories at the World Trade Center Construction site at 10 am Thursday, February 16, 2012, according to news reports received by New York City injury attorney Jonathan C Reiter. Although the sole injured party refused treatment, the incident is one of several hazardous events to have occurred at the construction site lately.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident, the metal had nearly reached the top of the structure before the crane cable snapped. The metal fell atop a flatbed truck parked near Building 4, located near Church and Cortland Streets. Manhattan construction accident lawyer Reiter explains the building is on the site’s southeast corner.

The New York City injury attorney adds that the crane operator was injured, but refused medical treatment after the event. Other workers at the site of the accident were evacuated and the area was sealed off while authorities assessed the situation, according to information received by Manhattan construction accident lawyer.
