New York, NY — Seven people were killed, including three children and four adults, when a van fell 100-feet from the Bronx River Parkway overpass. The fatal automobile accident occurred Sunday, April 29, 2012, around 12: 30 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the parkway near the Bronx Zoo, the New York Times reports.
According to reports, the van was headed southbound in the passing lane when it suddenly lost control and hit the median. The vehicle then veered right across two southbound lanes of traffic and fell over the guardrail.
The van fell about 100-feet into a wooded area near the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s East 180th Street Yard and Maintenance Shop, the New York Times reported.
In all seven people were killed, including three children. It is believed all of the deceased had been in the vehicle.
The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
Investigations into the fatal automobile accident are underway. Details are developing.
