San Francisco – A federal appeals court has decided not to revisit a ruling by a three-panel judge to overturn California’s gay marriage ban legislation. As reported by The Lookout, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that it would not make a ruling on the panel’s February decision, prompting proponents of Proposition 8 to announce plans to take the case to the Supreme Court.

The California three-judge panel is quoted in the report as writing of their decision in February, “Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationships and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples.”

Alliance Defense Fund Senior Counsel Brian Raum is further quoted as stating of plans to take the case to the high court after the recent decision, “The Protectmarriage.com legal team looks forward to standing before the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of the people’s right to preserve the fundamental building block of civilization, especially since the dissent accompanying today’s decision strongly supports our arguments.”
