New York, NY— New York Giants offensive lineman David Diehl was arresting on suspicion of drunk driving when he slammed into several parked cars along 35th Avenue. The automobile accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2012, in Queens, reports the WISTV.com.
Diehl, 31, was reportedly watching a soccer match at a bar in the Astoria neighborhood when he left around 8 p.m. in his black BMW. Diehl then slammed into several parks cars, in which no one was injured during the accident.
Responding police arrested Diehl after a breathalyzer test showed that he was above the legal limit.
Diehl has arraigned on two counts of impaired driving and was ordered to be released on his own recognizance. His license has since been suspended and he is order tot return to court on July 26.
“I’ve worked hard during my career to set a positive example, and yesterday I fell far short of this standard,” Diehl said in a statement. “I apologize to my family, my fans, the New York Giants, and the NFL. I made a poor decision that I sincerely regret, and, as always, take full responsibility for my actions.”
Investigations are underway.
