Three-Vehicle Crash in Fort Salonga Kills 4-Year-Old; 6 Injured

Fort Salonga, NY—A three-vehicle crash on New York’s Long Island has left a 4-year-old boy dead and his mother and aunt injured on Saturday night, June 23, 2012. The fatal automobile accident occurred in Fort Salonga around 6:42 p.m. at Meadow Glen and Pulaski roads, reported the Patch.com.

Suffolk County Police reported that Gregory Henig, 53, of Holbrook, was headed south in a 2005 Honda when his vehicle hit a 2008 Honda, driven by Jennifer Snyder, 41, of Huntington Station. Snyder was traveling westbound on Pulaski Road.

The impact of the crash caused Snyder’s vehicle to hit an eastbound 1994 Buick driven by David Deleon, 30, of Brentwood.

Responding emergency crews rushed Snyder and her sister, Emily Snyder, 29, and Emily’s son, Finn Egan, 4, to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip for medical treatment. At 10:36 p.m., Finn Egan’s injuries proved fatal and he was pronounced dead.

Henig was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Deleon was also taken to Huntington Hospital where he was treated and released.

Two passengers in Deleon’s vehicle were taken to St. Catherine of Sienna Medical Center were they were also treated and released.

Police revealed that there are no traffic signals at the intersection of Meadow Glen and Pulaski roads

Police are asking any witnesses to the wreck to contact Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452. All calls will be kept confidential.

Investigations are ongoing. It is unknown what caused Henig to hit Snyder’s vehicle at this time.
