Water Mill, NY—Newly signed New York Knicks point guard Jason Kidd was arrested last week, after crashing his SUV while under the influence of alcohol. The automobile accident occurred early Sunday, July 15, 2012, in Water Mill, close to Kidd’s home in the Hamptons, reports the Chicago Tribune.
According to Southampton Town police, Kidd crashed his 2010 Cadillac Escalade into a telephone and then drove into a forested area.
Kidd was the only person in the vehicle at the time.
Responding emergency crews rushed Kidd to Southampton Hospital, where he was treated for minor injured before he was arraigned.
Investigations into the alcohol-related wreck are underway.
Kidd, 39, signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract on Thursday to play for the Knicks. He has been named to the All-Star team 10 times in his career, the Chicago Tribune reported.
