Philadelphia – A city agency in Philadelphia may take legal action against a man who spent $20,000 of his own money clearing trash from a vacant lot. As reported by The Sideshow, the man, Ori Feibush, decided to clear 40 tons of trash from the lot after making requests to the agency regarding cleaning up the eyesore near his coffee shop that were denied.
Feibush also reportedly added landscaping to improve the appearance of the area, but the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority subsequently demanded the lot be returned to its previous condition, and stated it was considering taking legal action in the matter.
As noted in the report, the city ironically sent Feibush a citation for litter on the lot last year.
Feibush is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “For a private developer to create a garden, it’s a question of who gets credit. To do it without their blessing, you’re basically insulting them… I’m not looking for a thank-you, but I’m not looking for a big F.U.”
