2 ejected from car in I-78 crash; police searching for car that dragged victim

Greenwich Township, NJ — Police are currently looking for the car that dragged a New Jersey man after he was ejected and killed during a crash in Greenwich Township. The fatal accident occurred on Interstate 78, Friday morning, October 19, 2012, reports Timesonline.com.

According to state police, Ricki Lazier and his wife, Robin, of Phillipsburg, were traveling eastbound on I-78 when their vehicle hit a guardrail. The impact of the crasg caused their SUV to veer back into the highway, where it spun and hit a tractor-trailer.

Both occupants were ejected from their SUV.

An Audi A4 then reportedly hit Ricki and dragged him for about six-tenths of a mile before fleeing the scene.

Responding emergency crews pronounced Ricki dead at the scene. Robin was rushed to a Pennsylvania hospital where she is in critical condition.

Police are currently searching for the driver of the Audi, which is described as a 2002-2004 model year with front-end and undercarriage damage.

Investigations are underway.
