US – Questions have now arisen regarding the legal consequences of the recent admission by former CIA director David Petraeus that he had engaged in an extramarital affair. As reported by ABC OTUS News, due to the military’s ability to prosecute adultery, some question whether Petraeus faces related military prosecution for his actions.

Petraeus’ affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, who is also married, lead to the retired military officer’s resignation from the CIA on Nov. 9.

Petraeus is quoted in the report as stating in his announcement last week about his impropriety, “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.”

It has not been made clear whether the military will pursue any action against Petraeus.
