U.S. – Costs for health care plans are expected to rise for Wal-Mart employees. As reported by Reuters, employees for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. U.S. are anticipated to pay between 8 and 36 percent higher premiums next year, with more than a million indicating that they may choose to pass on any coverage plan amid the rising rates.

Employees were reportedly sent mailings regarding the increase, attributing it to rising costs in healthcare.

Wal-Mart, which is headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, is quoted by Reuters as saying on a statement, “Over the past few years we’ve all seen the cost of health care continue to rise nationwide, and 2013 is no different… As a result, we are adjusting rates for some of our health care plan choices. We are doing our best to keep health care costs as low as possible for our associates.”
