U.S. – Reports show that more women in the U.S. are licensed drivers than men. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a study examining driver’s license gender trends from 1995 to 2010 indicates that women drivers now outnumber male drivers, which is a stark contrast from previous significant gaps between male and female drivers.

As noted in the report, there has been a 10.6 percent drop in 25-29 year old men with driver’s licenses, with the decline in women of the same age range being 4.7 percent over the course of the 15-year study period.

Study co-author, Michael Sivak, is quoted by the AP as stating, “The changing gender demographics will have major implications on the extent and nature of vehicle demand, energy consumption, and road safety.”
