Fort Worth, TX – A Texas jury was recently moved to tears by a letter written by a young girl paralyzed in a drunk driving accident. As reported by ABC News, Xitclalli “Chilli”Vasquez, 9, presented the letter about her ordeal following the 2011 accident at the sentencing hearing of convicted drunk driver Jeremy Solis.

Part of the four-page letter handwritten by the fourth grader is quoted in the report as stating, “There were times that I would cry and cry…in therapy they showed me how to lift myself and dress myself. But right now it’s still very hard. My mom does a lot for me but I try myself. There are days that I cry cause I can’t do what I used to.”

Solis, who also reportedly cried during the reading of the letter, received a 10-year prison sentence in the case. Prosecutor Allenna Bangs is quoted in the report as stating of the case, “There were no restitution charges. It was not a trial, rather it was a plea case and he pleaded [guilty].”
