Lubbock, Texas – Two military veterans and their wives have filed a lawsuit against a railroad company following a fatal parade crash this month. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), one of the plaintiff’s attorneys in the lawsuit suggests others may join the suit related to the Nov. 15 crash that left four veterans dead and injured 16 others.
Union Pacific Railroad Inc. and Smith Industries Inc., the company that owned the truck carrying veterans in a parade organized in their honor that collided with an oncoming train after entering a railroad crossing, have been named in the lawsuit.
The plaintiffs in the case are reportedly seeking an unspecified sum for damages. Bob Pottroff, an attorney representing the couples, is quoted by the AP as stating the reason they have not requested a specific amount in damages is because their “No. 1 desire is that no accident like this ever happens again.”
