Minneapolis – A judge dismissed charges against a former right-to die group head on Friday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Dakota County Judge Karen Aspahug dismissed the charges against ex-Final Exit Network president, Thomas Goodwin, in connection with the death of Doreen Dunn, who committed suicide in 2007.

Goodwin was charged with both a felony and misdemeanor in connection with Dunn’s death, after being accused in assisting with her suicide.

Aspahug ruled that Minnesota’s assisted-suicide law with regard to “advising” was unconstitutional because it was overboard.

Final Exit Network general counsel Robert Rivas is quoted by the AP as stating of the ruling, “It’s a clean sweep for (Goodwin). I’m sure he’s overjoyed… Everybody in Final Exit Network is jumping for joy because he’s the former president.”
