Las Angeles – The city of Los Angeles has agreed to compensate two women for their truck getting shot up by police by mistake. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Margie Carranza and her 71-year-old mother, Emma Hernandez will reportedly receive a tax-free settlement of $40,000 after a Police Department protection detail mistakenly shot their delivery truck believing it was instead a vehicle being driven by rogue ex-cop Christopher Dorner, who had killed multiple people.

Both women are stated to have suffered injuries as a result of the shooting. Glen Jonas, the women’s attorney, is quoted by the AP as stating of their condition, “Margie’s still very emotionally impacted and Emma is suffering from her injuries.”

Jonas has purportedly expressed hope that other matters related to the incident, including personal injury could be settled without court intervention.

Dorner died from reported self-inflicted gunshot wounds after a standoff with police on February 12.
