Los Angeles – Production company, Prospect Park, is suing ABC, alleging the network is sabotaging its efforts to revive a formerly long-running soap opera as an online production. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, the lawsuit asserts the production company offered to loan seven “One Life to Live” characters to another soap “General Hospital” expecting that they would resume work on the Internet version of “One Life to Live” thereafter, but two of them were killed off.

ABC, which is owned by Walt Disney Co. is accused of killing off characters, and other actions that Prospect deemed would hurt their online endeavor, without consulting them.

The suit is quoted in the report as stating, “In an ultimate act of bad faith, ABC inexplicably killed off two ‘One Life to Live’ characters on loan to ‘General Hospital’ by having their car forced off a cliff.”

“In other instances, ABC damaged ‘One Life to Live’ characters by, among other things, creating absurd story lines, having characters do things they would never do, and destroying critical character relationships popular with soap fans.”

Prospect Park is seeking a jury trial in the case.
