Two people were injured Saturday, March 2, 2013, after a Manhattan Deli car crash in Midtown, according to information received by New York City pedestrian accident attorney Jonathan C. Reiter. The livery cab was reportedly traveling along 51st Street when it jumped the curb and ran into the restaurant at Eighth Avenue at 6:15 pm.

Fire officials reported the driver of the vehicle and one pedestrian were injured in the accident. The pedestrian was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center. He was treated with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The driver was transported to Roosevelt Hospital suffering minor injuries.

The pedestrian was reportedly an employee of the deli that was the scene of the accident, according to some news sources. Police are investigating what caused the livery driver to lose control.

A recent report from the Tri-State Transportation Campaign reported that there were 451 pedestrian fatalities in the five boroughs of New York City from 2009 to 2011. Manhattan ranked third in the fatalities, with 93 deaths, noted NY pedestrian accident attorney Reiter.
