Bangladesh – More than 1,000 people have been found dead following the collapse of a garment factory building in Bangladesh over two weeks ago. As reported the Associated Press (AP), the death toll rose past 1,000 after officials recovered more bodies from the rubble this week.

As of Friday, 1,021 bodies had reportedly been recovered, with no sign of how many more could be found. The industrial accident has been deemed the deadliest garment industry disaster in the world.

The Rana Plaza building collapse was stated to have been linked to construction issues and noncompliance with safety regulations. Officials in the country and around the world have called for industry reform, following a series of incidents impacting factory workers there.
