London – A UK casino has alleged that a US professional poker player amassed millions of dollars in winnings by cheating. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Malaysia-based Genting Group is accusing Phil Ivey in court papers filed this week of cheating at baccarat during a game that took place last summer at Crockfords casino in London. Ivey filed a complaint against the Genting Group in London’s High Court last month after the casino refused to pay $11.9 million after he won it.

Ivy is quoted by the AP as issuing a statement through his attorneys in response to the cheating allegations saying, “The fact that I have issued a lawsuit in the face of what they are alleging says everything about how comfortable I am with my conduct and the validity of my win…Any allegations of wrongdoing by Crockfords are denied by me in the very strongest of terms.”

Ivey, 37, is a popular American poker player who has won several World Series of Poker Championship bracelets.
