Newark, NJ — SeaStreak LLC is facing 37 claims filed by people who were involved in the January 9 ferry crash that left 83 passengers injured in New York when the vessel hit a dock, the Ashbury Park Press reported.
The claims were filed in U.S. District Court in Newark between January 20 and the Thursday, May 23rd deadline, seeking unspecified damages for injuries suffered in the crash.
The accident occurred when the SeaStreak vessel ran into a dock at Pier 11 on a morning commuter run.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB.)
The ferry captain claims that he couldn’t control the engines at the time of the crash.
Many of the claims assert that they sustained various injuries including post-traumatic stress and head trauma.
