Ambulance crash kills 2 EMTs, patient on board

Georgia – A patient and two EMTs were killed in an ambulance crash in Georgia on Thursday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the accident occurred around 5 a.m. when the ambulance collided with a semitrailer on Highway 32.

According to the report, the ambulance was driving eastbound with its sirens and lights on when the semi jackknifed and came into its path. The ambulance was transporting a patient from Coffee Regional Medical Center to another hospital in Tifton.

George Heck, CEO of Coffee Regional Medical Center, is quoted by the AP as stating of the tragedy, “It’s a small community, a tight-knit community at the hospital, especially in the EMT department…They’re obviously taken aback by such a tragedy.”
