Construction Worker Pinned By Machinery In Toms River

Toms River, NJ — A construction worker was airlifted to Shore University Medical Center after he was pinned by a piece of machinery at Route 70 and Massachusetts Avenue Monday night, July 15, 2013, reports the Ashbury Park Press.

According to officials, the 27-year-old construction worker was operating a piece of machinery when his leg was pinned by the machine while doing paving work on Massachusetts Avenue.

Responding emergency crews airlifted the victim to Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was rush to the trauma unit.

The identity of the victim and how the accident occurred have not been released.

The condition of the victim is also unknown at this time.

Investigations into the workplace accident are under way. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is expected to investigate.
