New York, NY — At least 10 people were injured when the front landing gear on a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 failed as the plane landed at LaGuardia Airport on Monday, July 22, 2013, reports NBC New York.
According to officials, medical professionals treated 10 people, including passengers and flight crew, at the scene for bumps, bruises and anxiety attacks.
Four of the injured reportedly refused further medical treatment and six were taken to an area hospital.
The flight crew was also transported to the hospital for observation.
The plane, which originated from Nashville, was carrying 149 passengers and crew at the time. It is also believed that an infant was riding on a passenger’s lap, bringing the total of occupants to 150.
According to the FAA, the flight experienced “reported possible front landing gear issues before landing.” The plane came to a rest in grassy area about halfway down runway 4, between the runway and a taxiway.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Port Authority are investigating the mechanical failure.
