Las Vegas – A Saudi Arabian air force sergeant has rejected a plea deal in connection with charges filed against him in a child rape case. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Mazen Alotaibi, 24, refused to enter a guilty plea Thursday on reduced charges after being accused of having sexual contact with a 13-year-old boy at a hotel in Las Vegas.
A video was played in court Thursday of Alotaibi claiming the boy offered to exchange sex for money. Alotaibi is quoted by the AP as telling police, “I didn’t force him… He wanted weed. He wanted money. You have to understand my situation. I drank too much.”
Alotaibi’s lawyer, Don Chairez, was seeking to have the videotaped confession thrown out, claiming it was not obtained properly.
Alotaibi is being held on $1.7 million bail, and faces charges of kidnapping, lewdness with a child under the age of 14, sexually motivated coercion, sexual assault of a minor, and other felony counts. He is set to go to trial in October.
