Arizona – An Arizona father whose baby died after being left in a hot car has been charged with manslaughter. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Daniel Bryant Gray, 31, was booked on charges of manslaughter and child abuse Thursday.
Gray’s 3-month-old son Jamison Dean Gray died after being left in a parked car while he visited a Phoenix sports bar and restaurant where he worked. The temperature outside at the time the baby was removed from the car was said to be about 100 degrees.
According to a court document that was released on Friday, an unidentified worker claimed to have seen Gray and another employee standing next to the vehicle smoking marijuana.
Deputy Maricopa County Attorney George Kelemen Jr. is quoted by the AP as stating to a judge who set Gray’s bail, “The state believes the tragedy that occurred Wednesday is not simply an unavoidable mistake of a thoughtful parent.”
