Oklahoma – Submerged vehicles were found in an Oklahoma lake that contained skeletal remains. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the divers were on a training exercise when the discovery was made and investigators searched on Wednesday for other remains that could be linked to cold cases.

Highway Patrol spokeswoman Betsy Randolph is quoted by the AP as stating of the discovery, “We thought it was just going to be stolen vehicles, and that’s not what it turned out to be, obviously.”

Authorities believe some of the remains found were of three teenagers who disappeared in the early 1970s after leaving for a high school football game.

Randolph is further quoted as stating, “We’re hoping these individuals, that this is going to bring some sort of closure to some families out there who have been waiting to hear about missing people.”

The bones were reportedly being sent for examination by the state medical examiner’s office for a determination on the cause of death.
