Los Angeles – Several medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles have been closed after voters approved a measure, which reduced the number of shops in the city. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the city attorney says more shops would be closed down and prosecutions would follow following the passage of Measure D in May, which became effective in July.
The closings follow the city’s purported five-year struggle to regulate the medical marijuana industry. A reported nearly 1,000 nonprofit dispensaries were in Los Angeles a few years prior.
City Attorney Mike Feuer is quoted by the AP as stating, “We’re going to see a major difference in the way that operators and property owners perceive the city.”
