Washington – All eyes have turned to the Senate for solutions for putting an end to the government shutdown. As reported by ABC News, recent discussions between the White House and House Republicans were unsuccessful as President Obama rejected an offer to suspend the debt limit for six weeks on Friday.
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., is quoted in the report as stating following a conference meeting, “The president is freezing out America and we’ll do everything we can to make the point that we wanted to negotiate and he took no offer…It doesn’t appear as though the president wants anything except more tax revenue, more tax increases yet again.”
A proposal by a group of bipartisan senators is purportedly up for possible review that would extend the debt limit and entail a reopening of the government for six months.
