Brooklyn, N.Y.—A chain-reaction crash left a 9-year-old boy dead and three others injured, when an SUV careened into a group of pedestrians. The fatal accident occurred Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2013, in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, CBS New York reported.
According to reports, a Ford Explorer SUV driven by a 59-year-old man was struck by another car when it made a left turn onto Clermont Avenue from west DeKalb Avenue. The impact of the crash caused the SUV to then crash into a group of pedestrians.
The SUV pinned a 9-year-old boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A 5-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl and a 47-year-old woman were injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers remained at the scene. It is not believed that the drivers were criminally involved in the wreck.
Investigations are ongoing.
