Los Angeles, CA, United States, 04/26/2021 / KISS PR News Bureau /
2021 marked the strangest and quirkiest 93rd Annual Academy Awards Ceremony. As expected, the event was a low-key affair, but it ended on a very strange note for diverse reasons. The ceremony started with Regina King, the director of One Night in Miami as the presenter.
Expectations from This Event Were Not Too High
The event started with movie-style credits rolling by to give a feel of the whole ceremony unfolding as a big picture with a stellar cast. It felt as if the event is as showy and bold as always, like a heads-high project for just a short moment. With the year gone by marked with Zoom-based ceremonies, canceled or postponed events, the expectations from this event were not too high.
Despite Taking Precautions
The large crowd presence was barely registered, the stage was small, and the audience tables were set up at a distance to ensure social distancing. Despite taking so many precautions, the nervousness among the presenters was evident. King and the producers Stacey Sher, Jesse Collins, and Steven Soderbergh tried mightily hard to declare the evening as a stunning Oscar’s movie with a wonderful cast of more than 200 nominees, but the fear of pandemic seemed to loom large, putting a dampener on the event.
And the Winners are…!!
There were very few speeches, and the focus was largely on completing the event as smoothly and quickly as possible. Some notable Oscar winners were
- Emerald Fennel for the Best Original Screenplay for the Promising Young Woman. Another Round was declared the winner for the best international feature.
- Chloe Zhao emerged as the best director for his movie Nomadland, a movie that captures the attention of critics all over the world.
- Nomadland bagged the highest awards for the evening as the best picture.
- Frances McDormand as the best actress for Nomadland, and
- Anthony Hopkins is the best actor for The Father. T
The nominees on this evening equally deserved, but some movies and artists were better than the best.
The Clear Winner is…
When the final moments of the evening arrived, people were waiting with bated breath to hear the best movie, actor, and actress announced. Nomadland swept Academy Awards and emerged as the clear winner.
The ceremony Wasn’t too great, but was Okay!
Every year, there is a lot of anticipation about Academy Awards, and people worldwide wait to know more about the winners. Sunday night was amazing for the winners but fell flat as it culminated into an unsatisfying end. It was a strange year that has carried forward to 2021. The evening marked an odd whiff, a clear setup, a subdued crowd, and almost empty viewing venues.
