Islip Terrace, New York (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — On Monday, a ten-year old boy was admitted to the hospital with both his legs fractured after he was hit by a van in Islip Terrance while riding his bicycle. The boy was riding east across a bridge that divides East Farmingdale Street and Spur Drive North around 5:45 PM when the accident took place. While the boy was crossing over to the Spur Drive North, he was hit by a working van that was traveling in the southwards direction. However, after the accident, the van stopped for a moment and then sped away towards the South.
The injured boy was rushed to Southside Hospital at Bay Shore where his condition is improving. According to the police, the van that was involved in the accident was in poor shape. It is light blue and had graffiti on it. The van had a white mesh on the rectangular side of the passenger window. Investigating Officer Det. Sgt. William Rand holds the opinion that the van might have been working in the nearby area. Rand feels that there might have been an eye witness at the accident.

The child is free from danger and his condition is stable.
