It is unknown what went wrong with the plane’s engines to cause it to crash or who was piloting the plane at the time. Monroe is reportedly the Southern Community Bank’s treasurer, and Hastings is the executive vice president and chief financial officer at the bank. Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) http://www.faa.gov/ and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) http://www.ntsb.gov/ are investigating the plane crash.
