Portsmouth, NH (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A semi truck collided with a car in the northbound lanes of the Spaulding Turnpike on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, according to Fosters Daily Democrat.
Police identified the driver of the Oldsmobile sedan as 23-year-old William Greenwell, who was injured in the wreck. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived to transport the injured driver to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where doctors and nurses treated his minor lacerations, and he was released.
Troopers reported that the crash took place around 7:30 a.m., which temporarily shut down a section of the fast lane on Spaulding highway.
Investigators reported that Greenwell was cut off in traffic, which forced him to switch lanes and hit the tractor-trailer. The truck driver was identified as Massachusetts resident Scott Mitchell. Greenwell’s Oldsmobile was significantly damaged on the passenger side of the vehicle and the rear windows were shattered. The Forbes Petroleum Transport semi-truck was only minimally damaged.
It was not reported if the truck driver suffered injuries. Both the damaged vehicles had to be towed away from the scene of the crash. The stretch of highway where the accident occurred was reopened for normal traffic around 9 a.m. Police reported that charges will probably not be pressed.
