Wisconsin construction accident lawyers alert- A forklift collapse at a construction site injured workers.
Madison, WI—A Monday morning, November 30, 2009, Deerfield construction accident left two workers seriously injured when a platform held by a forklift collapsed, and plummeted 20 to 30 feet to the ground below. The men were injured at a construction site located in the 300 block of Liberty Street in Deerfield around 8:00 a.m., as reported by Channel3000.com.
Dane County sheriff’s officers identified the two injured workers as Scott L. Wedl, 54, and Keegan T. Wedl, 21. Keegan was reportedly discovered trapped under a pallet of singles, and had to be extricated by rescue teams. Scott managed to jump from the falling platform, and only sustained injuries consistent with the leap. A Med Flight helicopter was called to the scene to transport Keegan to the University of Wisconsin Hospital. Deer Grove emergency medical services (EMS) teams rushed Scott via ambulance to an area hospital for treatment by doctors and nurses for his injuries. Officials reported the injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Investigators believe the heavy weight of the platform and the uneven ground may have been factors in the forklift collapse. Police and federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov are conducting a full investigation into the construction accident.
