Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) investigates vehicle collision involving two cars, which left one dead and six injured.
Tampa, FL—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving two cars seriously injured seven people in a Christmas Day crash, according to information provided by Tampa Bay Online. A 5-year-old boy, Luis Contrerus, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital on Saturday, after sustaining life-threatening injuries in the accident.
It was reported that a westbound Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Mario Lopez, 25, was driving on U.S. Highway 92 when the incident occurred. Lopez was allegedly arrested for driving without a license, and providing false information to law enforcement officials at the scene. Lopez sustained minor injuries in the crash. Passengers in the Grand Prix including Miguel Vasquez, 33, Marta Contrerus, 8, and Luis Contrerus, 5, were all seriously injured in the crash, and had to be transported by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel to Tampa General Hospital. Passengers in the Chrysler included Maria Morales, 69, Irene Ruiz, 69, Angela Ruiz, 8, and Lisette Yvette, 1, who were transported to University Community Hospital and Tampa General Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses.
