Criminal lawyer alerts- teenager to be arrested in connection with blaze that left siblings with critical injuries.
Louisville, KY (News)—A 14-year-old girl is expected to face charges including arson, assault, and attempted murder after a residential blaze left two of her family members with critical injuries. The fire was reportedly ignited at approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010. The young teen, who has yet to be arrested, faces these allegations after metro investigators spoke with her and the other family members involved, according to information provided by WLKY.com,
Firefighters responded to the scene of the inferno, located in the 7100 block of Denver Lane, in which a fire was started in the laundry room of the basement. Two teenagers, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old girl were reportedly trapped in their bedrooms in the basement of the home. Reports stated the teens attempted to call their mother, who was in another part of the house at the time, when they realized they had no means of escape. When firefighters were able to rescue them, they had already sustained injuries deemed critical.
Rescue crews transported the boy to Kosair Children’s Hospital where he was treated by doctors and nurses and then released on Tuesday evening, February 16, 2010. The girl was allegedly taken to University Hospital to be treated by medical professionals and is currently listed in fair condition. The parents of the teenage victims as well as their 1-year-old grandson were reportedly in the home at the time of the fire but managed to escape without injury.
An investigator appointed to the scene reportedly stated, “This is kind of unusual in that it’s a female. Most of the juveniles that are involved are not females. And then, the seriousness of this fire and the fact that she fled the scene while the fire was burning, and then never told anybody is something that in our minds made this a lot more serious of an event.”
