Product liability attorneys alert- Chocolate chip granola bars were recalled due to a possible salmonella contamination.
Los Angeles, CA—A possible Salmonella contamination has prompted Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market Inc. of El Segundo, Calif. have voluntarily recalled Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov/ announced the recall on Thursday, February 18, 2010.
An ingredient supplies company called Thumb Oilseed producers, who may have supplied the ingredient that may be contaminated with Salmonella, initiated the voluntary recall. All date codes of the Fresh & Easy Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars have been affected. The granola bars were sold in a 6-count 7.4 oz carton with a bar code of 5051379001377. So far no illnesses have been reported in connection with the product. The snacks were sold in Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market stores in California, Nevada, and Arizona. The unused product, empty product containers or a receipt as a proof of purchase may be returned to any Fresh & Easy store for a full refund.
Salmonella infections can be serious and sometimes fatal in young children, elderly or frail, or people with weak immune systems. Infection symptoms include fever diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. If you feel you may have a Salmonella infection, you should seek medical assistance immediately.
