Laurel, MD—A man was killed after being struck in the head by an excavator at residential construction site. The fatal construction accident occurred at the intersection of Palace Hall Drive and Skylark Boulevard at around 7:57 a.m., as reported by www.gazette.net.
Police officials stated that Morgan Tyler Gainer, 34, of the 2900 block of Crabapple Lane in Ellicott City was reportedly working at the construction site when he somehow was struck in the head with an excavator.
Gainer’s co-workers immediately called 911 for help, but by the time emergency crews arrived at the scene it was too late. Gainer was pronounced dead at the scene.
Elkridge-based W.F. Wilson & Sons Inc. reportedly employed Gainer at the time of the accident.
Howard County Police and the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the construction accident.
Foul play has been ruled out.
