New York, New York (New York Injury News.com) — New York police are still investigating a case in which a local athlete and a graduate from Roy C. Ketcham High School were involved in a fatal car accident.According to the investigation, the car carrying the two ladies overturned. Lisa Moray, a resident of Hopewell Junction, 22, died within a few minutes of the accident; the other passenger, Meghan Wood, 22, of Stormville, is now in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla.As reported by state police, the two ladies were returning from a night out but were not wearing seat belts. The investigation is still on going. The vehicle involved in the crash was a Nissan Pathfinder SUV and the accident occurred at about 4:30 in the morning on the Sprain Brook Parkway. It is still not confirmed who was the driver of the car and what was the reason behind the vehicle traveling southwards.The driver failed to spot the roadway, mounted on an embankment and overturned. Kristie Meyer, who coached Moray at Ketcham, reported that Moray was a fun loving and likable woman. Being the leader as well as a teammate of the basketball program, she made her team like a family and contributed tremendously in making every teammate feel like an integral part of the sport.Moray also played from the team of Empire State Games and was a part of Hudson Valley Knights and the Amateur Athletic Union. She has been tagged as the player of all-section, all-state and MVP.The woman with whom Moray was traveling is also a great and accomplished athlete. Wood was a captain of Carmel High School won various awards such as the all-league, all-section and all-state honors. The police are trying the best of their efforts to contact Wood’s family or relatives so as to inform them about the crash.
