Adelanto, CA — A fifth grader at Adelanto Community Day School was arrested after punching and ultimately breaking a teachers nose Thursday morning, June 2, 2011. The assault took place around 9 a.m., between the teacher and an 11-year-old student in one of the classrooms at the alternative education school, located at 11824 Air Expressway, reported the VVDailyPress.com.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, the teacher who was assaulted asked the student to move to another seat, but the child refused and began yelling vulgar language at her. The fifth grade student eventually got up and punched the teacher in the nose, breaking it. No one else was injured in the assault.
Police officers were called to the school and the student was arrested for assault with injuries. The student was then taken to the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center.
The teacher was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment.
“The Adelanto Community Day School is an alternative education location for at-risk students who may have been expelled from other traditional campuses, may have attendance issues or are not doing well with the regular education program,” Christine McGrew, spokeswoman for the county Superintendent of Schools, stated.
